This psycho-educational, and practice-oriented program is designed to introduce parents to the principles and practices of Mindful parenting. Mindful parenting is intended to enhance parental presence, improve parent child connections, reduce parental stress and reactivity and build stronger family relationships. This program aims to improve emotional stability in parents, thereby providing them with a choice about how to navigate the unique challenges of raising a child or teen, especially when they are struggling.

Group modules will be influenced by the evidenced based research of Duncan and Coatsworth and Greenberg as well as Bogels and Restifo.

Through interactive discussion and mindfulness practice exercises, parents in the program will begin to experience and learn:

  • Skills to manage parental stress and reactivity
  • Practices to improve communication skills in the family
  • Tools to manage anxiety
  • Strategies to help build better connections with your loved ones
  • Skills to improve parental self care

Cost:
$425 per person, $750 per couple
$100 non-refundable registration fee required to secure placement

Participants are asked to maintain regular attendance

Mindful Parenting, ½ day Retreat

This ½ day retreat is designed to offer past participants from a mindfulness program an opportunity to re-ignite their practice, and set the tone for the start of the new year. The morning will offer you an opportunity to pause and refresh your understanding of mindfulness  practices and inspire your intentions moving forward. This will be a practice-oriented retreat with longer meditations. The last ½ hour of the session will be for discussion. Session Fee is $75.00, due at the time of online registration.

Mindful Parenting Group Level 2 - Deepening the Practice

This 4 week, 8 hour group is designed to provide past Mindful Parenting group participants with an opportunity to move deeper into Mindful Parenting practices. This group session will build on themes such as validation and listening, self-care and self-compassion, and practices to regulate our emotions and parent in a manner that is aligned with our values.  Participants of this group are strongly encouraged to join the ½ day silent retreat that will take place the week prior to this groups start date.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Teens with Anxiety and Mood Challenges

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is a group program for teens with anxiety and depression. This 8 week clinical group is informed by the evidenced based MBCT-C programs developed by Semple and Lee and the MBCT program created by Segal, Williams and Teasdale. This is an experiential, practice oriented group treatment program that integrates elements of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness as a way to help teens manage their mood more successfully. An integrative parenting component is also included and designed to improve skill generalization. The content of this program can be modified for individual clients.  Hourly clinical fees apply to individual clients.

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the Mindful Parenting Group in order to enhance clinical outcomes.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Manage moods with more skill and less reactivity
  • Reduce stress
  • Manage emotions by improving awareness of thoughts, feelings, impulses and body sensations
  • Improve meta-cognitive awareness
  • Decrease rumination
  • Improve attention and focus

Who:
Teens ages 12 and older

Group participants must be assessed and screened for suitability (parent and teen session), and be under the supervision of a supporting clinician.  Individual session  fee applies.

Cost:
Group fees are $600, ($100 non refundable deposit required to secure space in the program). Individual clients will be billed at a rate of $160 per hour.
